Many braiders don’t spend much time learning the Maru-yotsu braid as it is difficult to imagine that a simple four-strand braid could create anything very interesting. Although it appears to be a fairly simple braid, to paraphrase Makiko Tada “This braid is not as easy as it appears and it should be mastered before advancing to more difficult braids”. If you have not previously mastered this braid, the project for this class will certainly make you an expert and improve your overall braiding proficiency!

Prerequisites – Students should be proficient:
• Braiding with fiber on a disk or maru-dai
• Binding the end of a fiber braid and applying Fray Check
• Attaching a clasp with two part epoxy
